National Underground Railroad

National Underground Railroad Month

In September we will be observing National Underground Railroad Month.  This acknowledges the significance of the Underground Railroad, and all those involved, for its contribution to the eradication of slavery in the United States and as a cornerstone for a more comprehensive civil rights movement that followed. It honors the inspiring efforts of people from around the world who have committed themselves to document, interpret, and share with the public the history of the Underground Railroad. Be sure to check TravelKS.com on September 1st to see how we are marketing this important part of history!

We invite you to be a part of the Kansas tourism industry's "don't miss" conference of the year, October 19-21, 2020, in Liberal, KS. Enjoy inspiring speakers, valuable educational information, and fun networking opportunities.

Virtual Media Event

The COVID Pivot....seems to be the only way to stay afloat during this pandemic. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the media event that was to be held in March at Meredith Publications. So we've decided to pivot and are proceeding with a virtual event!  On September 10th, Kansas Tourism will be partnering with the six Kansas regional organizations, giving them the opportunity to virtually share their regions with Meredith editors for future travel stories.

We encourage you to become a member of your local tourism marketing region.
